Gelnhausen. Hesse.
Zinngiesserei. / Pewterer.
The PH mark shown here denotes Johann Philipp Becker, who was born in 1784 and worked as a pewterer in Gelnhausen from around 1815 to 1844 when he died. He had taken over the workshop founded by his grandfather Johann Christoph and continued by his father Johann Friedrich I, who died in 1826, in which his brother Johann Friedrich II, who died in 1881, also worked. Johann Philipp Son, Johann Friedrich III, active approx. 1850 to 1893, took over the workshop, which was now called "PH. BECKER SOHN", also under his son Wilhelm, with his early death in 1890, at which time the workshop closed down.
