Lid consisting of a stoneware insert and a pewter hinged lid assembly on the featured stein. The insert mirrors the M.I.T. crest on the stein front with the Latin motto "Mens Et Manus" or Mind and Hand.

An unnumbered 1/2 Litre J.W. Remy stein, produced as a special order for A.D. Maclachlan of Boston, Mass. to supply to the engineering students of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, (M.I.T.)
