Founded in 1815, the business moved to Ransbach in 1884. The 1922 address book states that the company was run by Wilhelm Peter, Jr., Alois Jakob and Theodor Krumeich. After the great fire of 1921 in the Mettlach factory, a number of articles were produced by Wekara in their Ransbach factory, using the moulds supplied by Villeroy & Boch. The owner, Wilhelm Krumeich, was a friend of Jean Baptist Stahl of Villeroy & Boch, having both been students of the Ceramic Technical School in Höhr. Also their families had previously intermarried going back to the early 1700's.
The company closed circa 1978.

This advertisement, dated pre WWII, shows that Krumeich also designed & manufactured a
range of patented hermetically sealed storage jars,
and sold them under the name of Wilhelm Krumeich, as opposed to Wekara.

(soup tureen), with lid and saucer, dated 1916, together with eight Wekara 1/4 litre punch cups, #3487, in matching Terracotta, dated 1926, which were made in Ransbach for Villeroy & Boch - Mettlach,
after their great fire in 1921.
1/4 litre blue version of the punch cups, Wekara #3487, above. Both the blue and terracotta versions, have a 26 base mark, indicating 1926 production.
