Artist's signature can just be made out in bottom left hand quarter. 
1. Schwere Reiter Regiment Prinz Karl vonBayern. Dated 1914 to commemorate the centennial of this regiment. Thisregiment was first mustered on the 16th July 1814 as a bodyguard to Prince Carlof Bavaria. They were quartered in Munich, until they were disbanded in 1919.
